Finland plans to donate Bitcoins (BTC) seized in various operations to Ukraine.
According to the news of the Finnish local newspaper Helsingin Sanomat, based on government sources, the Bitcoins seized by the Finnish government from the investigations are planned to be donated to Ukraine.
According to the news, the amount of Bitcoin to be donated has not been determined yet. However, it is stated that the potential price may be around 77 million dollars with the current value.
The report emphasized that Finland began investigating the use of Bitcoin to help Ukraine in early March. The country also considered donating the 1981 BTC seized by the customs department directly to Ukraine.
Crypto donation has become a popular way to donate money to Ukraine.
Although Finland has previously declared its neutrality on NATO, Finnish Prime Minister Sanna Marin recently announced that they could apply for NATO membership. Finland’s plan for Bitcoin aid to Ukraine came a few weeks after this news.
Bitcoin is trading at $39,243 at the time of writing, according to CoinMarketCap data.
