Most smartphone users use music streaming platforms like Spotify and Apple Music to listen to music on their phones. Youtube Music, which is included with Youtube Premium, is one of them. While it offers many of the features that its competitors offer, one important feature of the app has been missing so far.

Live lyrics finally on Youtube Music

YouTube Music’s Live Lyrics feature includes a visual and functional update of the existing lyrics tab. Now the lyrics will be presented to the user with larger texts and better spacing. Lines in live lyrics will be highlighted in white, while other lyrics will appear in toned gray.

Users will also see a blurred version of the album art in the background of the live lyrics. Before the song begins, YouTube Music will feature a note to accentuate the sound, keeping listeners focused. With this new feature, the app allows users to experience music more deeply.

While the Live Lyrics feature may not be available for all songs initially, the number of supported songs will increase over time. Even during the day, the number of supported songs started to increase. For songs that are not yet supported, a static lyrics version will be available.

YouTube Music live lyrics feature is available for Android app (v6.15) and iOS app (v6.16). You may want to force-stop the app and try multiple songs to keep the Live Lyrics feature running smoothly. However, this update does not include the comment-added “Now Playing” UI, which is currently in testing.

YouTube Music’s live lyrics feature adds a nice feature so that the app can compete with its competitors. Other platforms such as Spotify and Apple Music have long supported a similar feature.
