The Galaxy S series, which Samsung first introduced in 2009, has hosted the most preferred smartphone models of users for years. The last product of the series, S23, has become one of the models that users follow new developments with curiosity.

Samsung Galaxy S3 appeared as the third model of the series in 2012. It’s not a phone we’re familiar with anyway. Remember the sound of water that used to be heard when unlocking the lock screen of Samsung phones, and that sound came with this phone for the first time. Of course, the S3 had other features that surprised many of us at that time.

Samsung Galaxy S3 features:

  • 4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED touch screen
  • 720×1280 (HD) pixel resolution
  • FHD video recording resolution with 8MP rear camera
  • 2100 mAh battery capacity
  • Three types of internal memory: 16, 32 and 64GB
  • 1.4GHz Exynos 4 Quad 4412 4-core processor
  • TouchWiz and 4.3 Jelly Bean update
  • Four different color options
  • 3G connection support
  • Other models of Samsung Galaxy S3 and box contents

4.8 inch HD Super AMOLED touchscreen:

The Samsung Galaxy S3 model, which has a touch screen using Super AMOLED technology, appeared with a size of 4.8 inches. Samsung Galaxy S3 was one of the most preferred phones of 2012, thanks to the scratch-resistant glass and multi-touch screen features of the device, which stands out with its 60Hz screen refresh rate and 306 PPI pixel density.

720×1280 (HD) pixel resolution:

The screen resolution of the device being at HD standards was a huge development for 2012. We previously mentioned that it has a Super AMOLED screen. In other words, the model had a thinner screen and could provide a brighter image. It is possible to say that Samsung Galaxy S3, which is energy-friendly and has a resolution of 720×1280 pixels, offered users a quality image in 2012.

FHD video recording resolution with 8MP rear camera:

The camera features of the device benefited greatly from the technological developments of that period compared to other phones of the series. With its rear camera with 8MP resolution and front camera with 1.9MP resolution, the Samsung Galaxy S3 had features such as HDR, panorama, autofocus, face detection, smile capture and timer. Additionally, the features of the device allowed you to video chat with your loved ones.

At the same time, the FHD video recording resolution of the camera with LED flash made the video shots higher quality than at that time. The fact that the new phones of the series have a 200MP rear camera feature shows how much phone camera technology has developed over the years.

2100 mAh battery capacity:

Samsung Galaxy S3 model appeared with a battery capacity of 2100 mAh. It was also possible to replace the battery of the device, which had a talk time of 11.6 hours and a standby time of 770 hours. In addition, offering 7 hours of internet use was an important development for the device. The version of the model with 2G connection support had a talk time of 22.5 hours with a standby time of 830 hours.

Three types of internal memory: 16GB, 32GB and 64GB:

The device, which had three different internal memory features, had 1GB of RAM. Of course, the device also had memory card support. The maximum capacity of the memory card of the Samsung Galaxy S3 is 64GB. Additionally, 16GB and 32GB internal storage options were also offered to users.

1.4GHz Exynos 4 Quad 4412 4-core processor:

Samsung Exynos 4 Quad 4412 model was used as the chipset in the Samsung Galaxy S3 model. It is also known to contain a 4-core CPU core. The device, which stands out with its 1.4GHz CPU frequency, was faster than its previous model.

TouchWiz and 4.3 Jelly Bean update:

The operating system of the Samsung Galaxy S3 was first introduced with Android 4.0 and the user interface was TouchWiz. Android Jelly Bean, which was later used for the upper model of the device, also came to the S3 model with the update. In fact, many features have been added to the device, including new unlocking effects.

Four different color options:

Samsung Galaxy S3 model was released with many color options. You could choose the color you wanted when purchasing the device, which was popular among users with white, brown, blue and black options. It is possible to say that the slogan “Designed for people, inspired by nature” is also reflected in the design of the model, which stands out with its colors.

3G connection support:

Unlike the lower model of the Samsung Galaxy S3, it also offered 3G connection support. Benefiting from both 2G and 3G connection support, the device also had an NFC feature. Current devices have 5G features, and it surprises many of us that 3G connection support was a new development in the past.

The presence of Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 4 channels is proof that the technological developments of that period were used in the device. It goes without saying that these features seem like a joke considering current technology.

Other models of Samsung Galaxy S3 and box contents:

The Samsung Galaxy S3 model also had Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and Samsung Galaxy S3 Neo models. Although the Mini model was similar in features to the Samsung Galaxy S3 model, it was quite small compared to its dimensions. The Neo model used 1.5GB RAM and Snapdragon 400 processor. Apart from these differences, we can say that both models are similar to the Samsung Galaxy S3. The box contents of the Samsung Galaxy S3 device include spare silicone for the headphones, headset with microphone, USB cable and USB power adapter.

So, is there anyone among you who has used the Samsung Galaxy S3 and even says ‘I still use it’? What were the pros and cons of S3 in your opinion? Don’t forget to mention it in the comments.
