Toyota’s luxury pickup truck type (SUV) new Corolla Cross has been confirmed to go on sale in Europe, with deliveries in the UK starting next fall.
Although the European-specific car has almost the same features as the US version released last year, it draws attention with its updated headlight design and some changed technical features. The car, which is thought to rival the electric Nissan Qashqai, is expected to go on sale in Europe next year.
Highlights of the new Toyota Corolla Cross
- Toyota 2022 model Corolla Cross will have more powerful and lighter lithium-ion batteries with its hybrid system. The giant automobile manufacturer company stated that with this change, there is a 40% reduction in the weight of the vehicle.
- The electric motor of the vehicle will be connected to a 2.0 four-cylinder gasoline engine. This system, which comes with a 1.8-liter unit, will produce 197 horsepower and will be able to accelerate to 100 km / h in 8.1 seconds.
- There is also an all-wheel drive version with an additional electric motor on the rear axle of the vehicle. This additional electric motor, which is automatically activated only when necessary, provides an increase of up to 43 horsepower. Toyota claims the acceleration system is more linear and controllable, while vehicle speed is much better matched to engine revs to “provide a more intuitive and natural driving experience.”
- Models of the vehicle in other markets will have a 7-inch display, while the European-specific model will have a 12.3-inch digital cockpit and an instrument panel with a 10.5-inch touchscreen. The company also announced the application of the smart connected feature along with the vehicle. Toyota’s “MyT” application offers its users features such as driving style, vehicle location, voice assistant and up-to-date traffic information with its networked services.
While it has been announced that the new Toyota Corolla, which will be placed between C-HR and RAV4 as a mid-size SUV for active families, will start sales in the UK from autumn, it is not yet clear when it will arrive at dealers in Europe. Pricing of the new model has not been announced, but it is thought to be around 30,000 Euros (Approximately 460,000 ₺) as it will be between the C-HR and RAV4 models.
