WhatsApp continues to offer many innovations to users with the updates it has brought to the application recently. Finally, the application brought the ability to set an expiration date to WhatsApp groups. Now, there has been a new development regarding voice messages.
WhatsApp voice messages come to our rescue, especially when we cannot write messages. However, there is another dimension to the job. We cannot always find the opportunity to listen to the voice messages from the other party at that moment. This means that we can sometimes listen to voicemails hours later. Here the company has released a new beta version that fixes this problem. According to the feature, we will now have the opportunity to see the audio message contents in text form.
We can now see the content of voice messages as text on WhatsApp
WhatsApp has upgraded the app version to iOS 23.3.0.73 by offering a new update through the beta program. With the new beta version, a new feature has been announced that will be very useful for users. With the update, users will be able to access the content of the message as text in cases where they cannot listen to the voice messages.
As you can see in the screenshot above, the content of the voicemails will be added below the message bubble. This feature will be available to users by default after the version update. However, users who still want to turn off the feature will also have this right.
Users who do not want to use the feature will be able to disable the feature from Settings > Chats > Voice Message Transcripts.
You can also search between voicemails.
The conversion of voice messages into text also brings another convenience. Including the voice chat as text also allows you to search the chat about the content of the message.
This is a very useful feature when a user searches for specific information in a long voice note or does not remember which voice note contains the content they are looking for. In such a case, you can find the message by searching for the relevant keyword or phrase using the search bar.
In addition, the text versions of voice messages will be protected with end-to-end encryption, just like chat messages.
For now, the ability to transcribe voice memos is available to some beta testers who have installed the latest version of the WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app. However, we can say that it will be offered to even more users in the coming weeks.
