Thanks to a feature that came to the web version of Gmail a while ago, it became easier to get rid of unwanted e-mails. Thanks to this feature, getting rid of mass e-mails and unsubscribing from mailing lists has become much easier. Gmail Android application will also start offering this opportunity to its users in its latest version.
The era of saying goodbye to mailing lists begins with one click
It is not easy to unsubscribe from a mailing list under normal circumstances. The unsubscribe links at the bottom of the emails direct you to the companies’ own pages. On these pages, unsubscribing is done manually. Since this process is cumbersome, people prefer not to terminate their subscriptions.
On the other hand, Gmail’s Android application did not have the option to unsubscribe from the web version; it could only be terminated via the link by going to the bottom of the page. To prevent spam content, it was necessary to access it from the three-dot menu. With the new feature of the application, which is still in the testing phase, it will be possible to block direct e-mails and unsubscribe.
To test this feature, it is first necessary to activate a hidden flag in the test version. The fact that Google hides such features with flags in the test versions shows that the feature is not yet at the level to be offered to end users. When the feature is active, Google will also force mass e-mail senders to offer users a simple solution. According to the new community guidelines, commercial emails will have to offer a one-click unsubscribe option and this part will be clearly visible.
