The FBI has released a report confirming that two hacker groups linked to North Korea were responsible for the $100 million hack of Harmony Bridge. The FBI reports that it has started to exchange $60 million in stolen funds through Ethereum-based Railgun. ZachXBT made a post about extraordinary moves last week.

After the aforementioned movements, Binance CEO Changpeng Zhao also announced that the laundering process was tried to be done through Huobi and 124 Bitcoins were frozen. According to the US, the stolen assets are used in North Korea’s ballistic missile and weapons of mass destruction programs.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) confirmed the Harmony Bridge attack by the North Korean hacker group Lazarus. The FBI has also confirmed that the bulk of the assets allegedly stolen from Harmony Bridge in the past few weeks have begun to circulate.

The agency reported that Lazarus and APT38 were behind its attack. Thus, it was announced for the first time by the authorities that the North Korean hacker group was behind the attack. In the statement made by the FBI, it was stated that with the investigation, it was confirmed that the North Korean-linked cyber actors Lazarus Group and APT38 were responsible for the $ 100 million virtual asset stolen from Harmony.

Over the past year, such cross-chain bridges have been heavily abused and an easy target for hackers. More than $2 billion worth of cryptocurrencies were stolen in 13 separate attacks on cross-chain bridges last year.
