Seat belts are perhaps the most important safety equipment in vehicles. These systems work together with the airbags in the event of an accident, preventing many injuries. A minor failure in seat belts can have life-threatening consequences.
Range Rover has detected seat belt failure in some of its models produced in 2016. That’s why the luxury car manufacturer has decided to recall about 15,000 vehicles.
Range Rover is recalling its vehicles due to seat belt failure!
The British manufacturer cited the locking mechanism of seat belts as the reason for the recall. It was reported that this malfunctioning mechanism could endanger the lives of the passengers in the event of an accident. Accordingly, 5,553 Range Rover and 9,259 Range Rover Sport models produced between April 29 and October 17, 2016 are being recalled.
The problem in vehicles is caused by the seat belt assembly that does not have the proper locking mechanism. It is stated that this part does not lock at times under the correct G-force. This prevents the seat belt from working effectively during an accident, increasing the risk of injury.
The British manufacturer will inform vehicle owners about the issue as of June 3, 2022. Owners will be asked to take their cars to the nearest service center. A technician will check the seat belt assembly and, if necessary, a new part that meets specifications will be replaced free of charge.
No explanation has been made yet about whether this problem covers the vehicles in our country. So what do you think about this seat belt fault? You can share your views with us in the comments section or on the SDN Forum.
