From time to time, there were reactions to the use of real weapons in movie and TV series sets. So much so that sometimes serious accidents took place. However, the accident that took place on the set of the Rust movie in the past few weeks and caused death was not like any other accident that has happened so far. On the set of the movie “Rust”, which is still being shot in the USA, the famous actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot the cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with the blank pistol she used, causing her death.
After the incident, Baldwin said, “He was my friend. I took her to dinner with director Joel the day it happened. We were a team that got along very well, filming together, and then this happened. There are occasional accidents on sets, but not like this. This is a one-in-trillionth event. We are impatiently waiting for the information the police have about the investigation,” he said. After the incident, the reactions to the use of real weapons on the sets of movies and TV series grew like an avalanche. Famous actors, directors and companies have started to show sensitivity to this issue, albeit late.
He will not let real guns be used in his own production company.
Dwayne Johnson, one of the stars of the Fast and the Furious movie, spoke about the bad accident that took place on the set of the Rust movie at the premiere of the movie Red Notice, which will break the record for the most expensive movie of Netflix ever and in which he shared the lead roles with stars such as Ryan Reynolds and Gal Godot. Johnson said they would no longer use real guns at his own production company, Seven Bucks Productions.
Johnson described the accident as a terrible event and stated that he had known Alec Baldwin for years and they were friends. Speaking about the event, Johnson said in his statement, “I can’t speak for other production companies, but what I can tell you is that this experience has given us a new lens and perspective on how we can act in the coming period.”
