The US-based brewing company Anheuser-Busch has filed a metaverse-focused application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
Anheuser-Busch, which produces Budweiser, plans to create a metaverse universe called “Budverse”.
According to the application, Budweiser plans to offer NFTs with images of beer cans under the Bud Light brand. The company also aims to provide online gaming services and art exhibition services on the metaverse.
Budweiser launched its first digital beer cans collection last November, aimed at celebrating the brand’s iconic history. The company also announced a new NFT project called “Bud Light N3XT Collection” in January.
In August, Budweiser purchased the Beer.eth domain name for approximately $95,000 in Eth, and the brand’s Twitter account was renamed accordingly.
The brewery, founded in 1852, owns brands such as Hoegaarden, Shock Top and LandShark Lager, as well as Budweiser.
Anheuser-Busch is not the first brewer to join the metaverse. Last month, Dutch beer company Heineken also introduced pixel-prepared “non-alcoholic” and “fun-free” virtual beer on Decentraland.
