In a new interview on the Scott Melker podcast, renowned investor and Shark Tank host Kevin O “Leary said that he realized that crypto assets are a kind of software rather than currency, and that is why he has directed his wealth to allocate his wealth to a wide variety of altcoins. O’Leary shares smart contract platform Solana (SOL), Ethereum scaling solution Polygon (MATIC), high-speed cryptocurrency network Hedera Hashgraph (HBAR), decentralized exchange (DEX) Serum (SRM) and Helium (HNT) favorite altcoin highlights some of its projects. O’Leary comments on this:
I believe cryptos will be the 12th sector of the economy at some point. It’ll take like 10 years, but I look at it and I tell myself it’s all software innovation. Bitcoin isn’t a cryptocurrency, it’s software… That’s why I look and say I have to bet too much. I am very lucky to have met all these development teams all over the world and been able to invest in them privately. I put a large sum of money on Polygon, HBAR, Solana, Serum, Helium, so I have 32 positions.
SOL and MATIC have great potential

The famous billionaire says high-throughput chains like Solana and layer-2 solutions like Polygon have enormous potential. The Shark Tank server states the following about these altcoin projects:
At this point, you can bet on Solana that you can achieve 100x efficiency. I’m really starting to think of it as financial services productivity, so somehow I do a lot of private equity. When I invest in a private position at Polygon, I think it’s a long-term investment in Ethereum that I think will be a way to reduce gas fees. So for me, these are innovations worth investing in.
