There has been a remarkable development regarding Tim Cook, the CEO of the US-based technology giant Apple. Someone created a fake Instagram account on behalf of Tim Cook. Moreover, a few posts were made from this account. It even got to such a point that even some of Apple’s vice presidents such as Lisa Jackson and Alan Dye began to follow the fake account. Acting upon the realization of the truth, Apple had the fake account closed.
Tim Cook has been active on only two social media platforms so far. The first of these was Twitter, which we now refer to as X, and the other was Weibo, China’s social media platform. But other top executives of the company are active on social networks. In fact, Phil Schiller, one of Apple’s top executives, joined Threads with his Instagram account in the past months. It was thought that Tim Cook was also included in this trend. But the reality was not like that at all.
This is what the fake Instagram account, which appears to belong to Tim Cook, looked like:
The user named “tim.d.cook”, which was first opened in July 2023, has made two posts so far. The first of these was a post about World Photography Day celebrated on August 20. The second was an advertisement for a project involving Apple to produce prosthetics for pets. Fortunately, the fake account was removed without harming a single person on the internet.
It is not known who opened the account and for what purpose. However, fake accounts often make attempts against other users, and sometimes major fraud events can occur. Be you, be careful when following famous names. And remember, no celebrity will message you until you reach out to them. This is true even if the accounts have received verification badges. As a result, verification badges are now purchasable with money.
