Promising rewards to users who have found faults in both social media platforms and previously released products in the past, Facebook will continue the same policy with its umbrella company Meta. Meta announced that it will reward developers and users who find bugs for their new hardware Quest 2, Portal and Ray-Ban Stories.
Prizes start at $500
Facebook has announced that they will continue the tradition of giving awards for bug detection, with a new press release published via Meta’s official blog page. Waiting for bug reports, especially for the recently released Ray-Ban Stories, the company invited developers to analyze both the glasses and other hardware components such as Portal and Quest 2.
Meta announced that the minimum reward amount for each detected bug is $500 and is determined by the importance of the bug discovered on the device, the difficulty of being discovered, and its potential impact on users.
Dan Gurfinkel, the firm’s Director of Security Engineering, said the largest payout currently listed is $30,000. However, he added that if the discovered bug is serious enough to cause a potential health, security or privacy issue, the company may use its discretion here to increase the reward.
As it is known, the company first started the rewarding program for mistakes in 2011. In this way, it was aimed both to reward users who found problems by checking devices and websites, and to solve problems in a short way. The company announced that over the past 10 years, more than $2 million in total awards have been distributed.
