Facebook, one of the most popular social media platforms in the world, introduced a feature called “Live Shopping” to users a few years ago. This method, which is very popular especially in China, was not accepted in the rest of the world.

As such, Facebook took the expected decision for the Live Shopping feature. In the statements made by the company, it was stated that the feature will not be available as of October 1, 2022. In summary; As of October 1, content producers and influencers will not be able to broadcast live and sell products. So why did Facebook make such a decision?

Reason behind the decision, Reels

The Live Shopping feature, which was first introduced in 2018 and spread to many countries in 2020, will no longer be a part of Facebook. The company says the reason behind this decision is Reels videos. Developers will continue to focus on Reels features. However, the Live Shopping feature on Instagram will continue to be used for a while.

TikTok, which Facebook is trying to emulate, also launched its own Live Shopping feature. This feature, called TikTok Shop, reached Asian countries in the first stage, and Europe and the USA in the next stage. Oddly enough, TikTok Shop also didn’t get any attention in the US and Europe. TikTok has even pulled the feature out of the US and Europe. Now Facebook seems to have followed TikTok and made the same decision.
