Facebook has announced a new profile lock feature that its users in Ukraine can do to protect their accounts after Russia’s invasion attempt on Ukraine. The platform also establishes a Special Operations Center in order to closely follow the developments in the region.
Lock Profile from Facebook move
The social media platform offers a Lock Profile feature that easily limits people in the region to their friends after the events in Ukraine. After going to their profiles, users will be able to access the feature via the three dots (…) at the bottom of their names.
Users who are not in the friend list of users who have locked their profiles will not be able to download the profile photo in the locked profile and view the posts on the timeline. Also, visibility will be automatically changed to friends after enabling the feature, even if users have previously shared a public post.
Nathaniel Gleicher, Head of Security Policy at Facebook: “We’ve also taken steps to help people in the region protect themselves online. In Ukraine, we’ve launched a new feature that allows people to lock their profiles for an extra layer of privacy and security. ” made statements.
Free speech and internet package for our citizens in Ukraine
Except for the Lock Profile feature, Facebook announced that they have established a Special Operations Center in order to closely follow the developments in the region and take quick measures against possible situations.
