Facebook Announces Dangerous Types of Mobile Apps

Indeed, 2022 remains the year of data leaks and theft. There is a data leak in Facebook, which has come to the fore with the leaking of its users’ data many times before and even Mark Zuckerberg is sued for these reasons.

Facebook’s parent company, Meta, said in a public statement that it has detected 400-odd malicious apps designed to steal login data from Facebook users. Reportedly, 1 million users’ data is compromised, but that’s not the point.

Think twice before downloading apps in this category:

In a statement, Meta stated that 402 malicious applications, which it categorizes as games, photo editing applications and other utilities, have been detected and that these applications may have potentially stolen the login data of 1 million users so far.

The biggest problem is on the Android platform, as you can imagine. According to the company’s data, 355 of the 402 malicious apps are on the Google Play Store and only 47 are on the App Store. Among the malicious applications, the most popular among Android users are photo editing applications.

The most popular malicious apps among iOS users are business utility apps. Of course, on a platform with 2 billion users, the data of 1 million people may not seem very large, but if you do not want to be included in this 1 million people and multiply the number, stay away from unreliable applications in this category.
