Internet giants, which have owed their existence to advertising until now, got into trouble when access to personal data, which is the main basis of advertising, began to be cut off. Personal data laws enacted in our country and in Europe make it difficult to do business.
Threat from Facebook and Instagram to Europe
As we saw in the PayPal case for a while, it has gone one step further for countries to keep personal data of their citizens within their borders. Countries no longer want these data to be shared with overseas headquarters.
As a matter of fact, sharing data with the USA, which is seen as a breathing tube for social media platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, is interrupted for this reason. Mark Zuckerberg reported to the US Securities Commission that if the process continues, they can withdraw from Europe as Meta.
Apart from Meta, giants such as Google, Microsoft and Amazon are also quite uncomfortable with the regulations since the sharing center is in the USA. In this regard, the issue of regulation seems to lead to debate for a long time.
