It is stated that Meta has set up an organizational team to identify and create new paid features on Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp. We can say that the new department is the first serious step towards creating paid features in Meta’s applications, all three of which have billions of users.
Meta aims to increase its earnings with new features
Meta has decided to launch this app after the huge drop in ad revenues. The department, called New Monetization Experiences, will be led by Pratiti Raychoudhury, who was previously Meta’s head of research.
John Hegeman, vice president of the New Monetization Experiences group, says the company is committed to growing its advertising business. However, Hegeman stated that there is no such thing as paying users to turn off ads in applications.
Meta plans to introduce new features in social media apps that users will be willing and excited to pay for. There is no clear information about these features yet. Almost all of Meta’s revenue comes from ads. While the company already offers a few paid features in its apps, it has never made paying users a priority until now.
Meta does not expect great success from the new features in a short time. However, in the long term, new paid features are expected to be used frequently on platforms such as Instagram, Facebook and WhatsApp. Meta believes that new paid features will come to a much different point in 5 years.
Meta currently offers some paid content on Facebook, WhatsApp and Instagram. Meta, which offers the virtual star system on Facebook, also charges a certain fee from companies that send messages to their customers via WhatsApp. The company also revealed its subscription fee plan for exclusive content on Instagram.
Meta isn’t alone in its new paid content. Similar systems are starting to be offered in applications such as TikTok, Twitter, Snapchat and Telegram.
