Facebook, which changed the name of the company to Meta, is one of the companies that have taken the most serious steps in this regard, these days when the Metaverse universe is being talked about more and more. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who is preparing for the race for the metaverse universe, points to Apple as a competitor.
Zuckerberg sees Apple as the biggest competitor
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg stated in a meeting with company employees that Meta will directly compete with Apple in creating AR and VR platforms. Zuckerberg said Meta and Apple will compete on which direction the internet will take.
Zuckerberg also states that Apple will want to tightly control the metaverse experience. As is known, the company believes they are creating a better consumer experience by doing everything themselves and tightly integrating it. On the other hand, we can say that Meta is moving in the opposite direction in this regard.
The successful CEO says he is unsure whether a separate open or closed ecosystem would be better. Zuckerberg also shared his thoughts that Apple’s strategy could be more beneficial than Meta’s open ecosystem. However, it was underlined that they would not be able to follow this path since the aim of Meta is to get its equipment into the hands of as many people as possible.
The company’s goal is to bring one billion people together in the metaverse universe. Apple has yet to officially announce any augmented or virtual reality hardware. However, Apple CEO Tim Cook has previously expressed his interest in augmented reality.
Apple has long been said to have developed several different AR and VR devices, including a high-end Apple VR viewfinder that can focus on virtual reality and gaming. Apple is also allegedly working on a smaller and lighter “Apple Glass” wearable that could accompany an iPhone.
