Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer was one of the most important names on the agenda in these days when the number of cases was exploding due to the Omicron variant. Because while parents and students wanted to transition to distance education, the Ministry of National Education did not take kindly to this and as of yesterday, the new term started face-to-face.
Today, a new statement came from Mahmut Özer. Making evaluations on the agenda in Konya, Özer once again emphasized face-to-face uninterrupted education. Stating that the reflection of the Omicron variant on schools is very low, Minister Özer stated that the determination in the first term will be maintained in the second term.
“The rate of closed classes is below 1 percent”
In the statements made by the Minister of National Education Mahmut Özer, it was stated that face-to-face education was suspended in only 50 of the 850 thousand classes. Stating that the rate of closed classes is not even 1 percent, Minister Özer also drew attention to the measures outside of school. Mahmut Özer spoke as follows in Konya:
“The education system with approximately 850 thousand classrooms. As of today, only 50 of 850 thousand classrooms have suspended face-to-face education due to incidents or close contact. As of now, although the prevalence of the Omicron variant is very high, its reflection on our schools is extremely low. The rate of closed classes It is well below 1 percent. I hope we will continue our schools face-to-face education by paying attention to mask, distance and cleaning rules. For us, the health of our children is very important. These measures are very important. It is very important to comply with these measures in out-of-school environments. All socializing spaces affect each other. Naturally, it also affects schools. Therefore, our request from our parents and our society is that they comply with the health rules so that schools remain open to face-to-face education. I hope this process will continue as it was in the first term.”
