Apple authorized service centers will now be able to provide repair service when there is a Face ID-related failure on iPhone XS and newer models without having to completely replace the device. Some details about the change to the Face ID repair process have emerged.
In case of a problem with the Face ID sensors, it was not possible to repair it by authorized service centers. However, in a message sent to the company employees, the same device can now be repaired instead of replacing the iPhone with a new one.
Will reduce carbon footprint
Technical services will soon have access to the TrueDepth camera part, which includes Face ID sensors and the front camera. Whether the problem with Face ID can be resolved without the need for device replacement will be determined with the help of Apple Service Toolkit.
As we mentioned at the beginning, TrueDepth repair will be possible on all iPhones with Face ID, except iPhone X. Apple thinks that with this move, it can reduce the number of device replacements, which will help the company reduce its carbon footprint.
