Eyes on Other Network Upgrade After Shapella
Ethereum core developers met to discuss the next upgrade after Shapella. Ethereum Improvement Proposal 4844, or “proto-danksharding,” is expected to be the most significant change in the upgrade.

To make Ethereum cheaper for users, the upgrade will implement new changes to Ethereum’s two mainnet layers. These upgrades are the execution layer, which manages smart contract execution, and the consensus layer, which focuses on blockchain consensus through staking.
