Announcing that he has reached an agreement to buy Twitter for $44 billion earlier this week, Elon Musk was talking about the “lack of freedom of speech” on the platform, which has been on the agenda for a long time. While Musk promised to make the platform more free after purchasing Twitter, these promises have already started to take effect.

But Musk’s promise of freedom also had backfires. With the news of Twitter’s acquisition, many accounts such as BioClandestine, which were previously reported in the world press claiming that the USA supported the development of biological weapons in Ukraine, and banned on Twitter due to the fact that the news was false, began to give back signals to Twitter.

The far-right groups banned on Twitter are returning:

Many of the accounts banned from Twitter consisted of far-right audiences in the USA. Many ‘patriots’, especially Donald Trump supporters and the neo-fascist group Proud Boys, posted on Twitter and other social media platforms, ‘We are back’. style shares. However, it was also revealed that there was an incredible increase in the Twitter followers of the conservative segment. That increase was shown by The Verge as follows:

Among the accounts that saw the highest increase in the number of followers with the news of Elon Musk’s purchase, Donald Trump’s son Donald Trump Junior appeared on your account. Trump Jr., who shared the increase in the number of followers himself, showed that the number of new followers, which normally does not reach the five digits on the day of the news of Elon Musk, reached 87 thousand 296.

Research by The Verge revealed that 48 of 50 conservative accounts gained followers. While the average number of followers these accounts gained was 17,229, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was the conservative with the most followers, with 141,556 new followers. All 50 Liberal accounts lost an average of 6,062 followers.
