The scientific world has revealed that sex is beneficial for psychological, emotional and physical health, with many researches it has carried out so far. But although sex is beneficial, very rarely some people die during or after sex. While only 0.6% of deaths described as sudden death occur after or after sex, there are many reasons behind this.

In many cases where death occurs during or after sex, people are reported to have died from physical exertion during activity or from drugs or drugs. The risk of sudden cardiac death during sex increases at the same rate as people age. A previous study examining 32,000 cases showed that sudden death during sex mostly occurred in men aged 59 on average. But a new study has offered new information on this subject.

People under the age of 50 die from different causes, not from a heart attack:

Research conducted by the University of London revealed that sudden heart-related deaths during sex are not only seen in middle-aged people. The study, which examined 6,847 sudden cardiac deaths, showed that 17 of the cases experienced sudden cardiac death during sex or within 1 hour after sex. In addition, the mean age of these cases was 38, and 35% were women.

On the other hand, the causes of death in these cases were not usually due to heart attacks, as seen in middle-aged individuals. In contrast, in half of the cases, the heart appeared to be structurally normal. It was determined that the cause of death of these people was sudden abnormal heart rhythm called sudden arrhythmic death syndrome or SADS. While the cause of death in 12% of the cases was explained as ‘aortic dissection’, the remaining cases were caused by structural anomalies such as cardiomyopathy.

The new study revealed that sudden cardiac death in people under 50 is mainly due to sudden arrhythmic death syndrome or cardiomyopathies. On the other hand, the death rate in the studies showed that the risk of developing this condition was very low, even in people with existing heart conditions.
