Microsoft’s boss Satya Nadella’s total compensation is now over $1 billion, and he owes much of that thanks to artificial intelligence. When Nadella took over Microsoft in 2014, many feared that the company was past its heyday. But the new CEO has increased the value of the company hundreds offold since then, making Microsoft the second most valuable company in the world.

Satya Nadella grows with Microsoft

Microsoft’s stock, which was $36.35 on February 4, 2014, the first day Nadella took over, is up more than 900 percent, hitting an all-time high of $364.02 this week. The $13 billion investment in OpenAI has allowed Microsoft’s shares to rise 50 percent this year.

On this occasion, it was reported that the compensation package Nadella received from Microsoft (including stock grants, salary, bonuses and dividends) exceeded 1 billion dollars. According to Microsoft’s latest statement, Nadella’s total compensation was approximately $55 million in 2022, including a salary of $2.5 million, a $10 million cash incentive, and a $42 million stock award. Frankly, if you have a CEO who has increased his share value by 900 percent since taking office, this reward seems justified.

Microsoft’s share price rose once again on Tuesday when it announced a new $30 per month extra option to use artificial intelligence tools called Microsoft 365 Copilot with Office software. After this announcement, Microsoft’s market value increased by $ 154 billion in one day. This figure is equal to the entire net worth of Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon. On the other hand, with its investment in OpenAI, Morgan Stanley believes Microsoft is moving towards a $3 trillion valuation.
