CD Projekt Red managed to win the hearts of the players with its work on Cyberpunk 2077 and increased the quality of the game considerably. Recently, the game’s expansion pack, Phantom Liberty, was released. Company employees have now turned to The Witcher 4. An exciting statement was made on this subject.

CD Projekt Red staff focuses on The Witcher 4

At CD Projekt Red’s last quarter-end investor meeting, statements were made about the game projects under development. The company’s CEO, Adam Kicinski, stated that currently 330 employees are responsible for the development of The Witcher 4. This means that almost half of the developers in the company are involved in the new project. In his statement, Kicinski also stated that they will assign more than 400 employees to this project, codenamed Polaris, in 2024.

By the end of July, the Polaris team had grown to over 260 people. At that time, the company was also continuing its work to develop Phantom Liberty. That’s why they couldn’t focus on The Witcher 4. A striking point here is that a quarter of the team is temporary transfer. CD Projekt Red’s aim is to focus on the sequel of Cyberpunk 2077, codenamed Orion, after preparing The Witcher 4 as quickly as possible.

Despite all these developments, we will not see The Witcher 4 anytime soon. When the Polaris project was announced in March 2022, a development process of at least 3 years was mentioned. Moreover, the studio had to develop new technologies within Unreal Engine 5 during this period.

CD Projekt Red is currently developing two more projects for The Witcher, Sirius and Canis Majoris. It is unknown in what order Sirius and Canis Majoris will be released after Polaris. The Witcher 4 will also be the first game of the second trilogy.
