Original Portal co-author and former Valve employee Erik Wolpaw was interviewed on the Kiwi Talkz podcast where he discussed his work on various Valve games, including Portal 1 and 2. Wolpaw has expressed interest in making a third Portal game by getting players excited.

Wolpaw said in an interview, “We need to start making Portal 3, That’s my message… to whomever it happens,” he said. “We’ll be too old if we’re too late to work on it. We have to do it now.”

“Email Gabe, tell him you want Portal 3”

Wolpaw on recent Steam as an example of people’s desire for a third Portal game Deck featured the launch game Aperture Desk Job: “Desk Job was fun to do. If you like Desk Job, email Gabe and tell him you want some Portal 3.”

While Wolpaw’s enthusiasm for the Portal series is clear, he’s also realistic about the hurdles Valve must overcome to greenlight a third Portal game. Earlier in the Interview, Wolpaw stated that he is ready to make a new portal game, but he alone will not be enough.

Wolpaw thinks that with Valve’s 300 people working on new hardware like the Steam app or Steam Deck, he wouldn’t want to devote so many resources to a new game: “So it costs a lot to take 75 people and try to make a game. ”

Although it is a huge cost, Wolpaw also points out that a game with the potential of Portal 3 will have a lot of return: “A lot of money can be made from a game like this, but I’m not talking about the money in the Counter-Strike: Global Offensive style. The game itself brings a lot of money.”

In conclusion, whether we see Portal 3 depends entirely on Valve’s actions. If Portal 3 comes out, the whole game world will be shaken because we are all aware of Valve’s quality. What do you think? Please do not forget to share your thoughts with us in the comments.
