We have seen the stories of notorious criminals many times before in American crime history, both in documentaries and in movies. However, this couple has an extraordinary side, they are said to be the subject of the main story of GTA 6 and are among the criminals that are frequently talked about at the moment. What makes the lives of people who lived many years ago so interesting?

Undoubtedly, the answer to this is the chaos and ghetto culture that we often see in GTA games. Let’s take a look at the life of this couple, which has even been the subject of a play; It’s good to know before the game comes out!

Before Bonnie and Clyde became partners in life and crime, Bonnie was actually married to another inmate.

After her marriage at the age of 16, Bonnie never saw her ex-husband again after her husband was arrested. Bonnie and Clyde’s paths crossed in Texas in 1930. Bonnie was 19 and Clyde was 21. Shortly after, Clyde was arrested for theft, but he managed to escape from prison thanks to a gun that Bonnie secretly gave Clyde.

Although the two got together, Bonnie still had not divorced her ex-husband, but it seemed that this situation did not pose any problems for either of them. After all, they were madly in love with each other and had officially become partners in crime. They were robbing nearby markets and gas stations and making their living from them.

Theft was not their only crime, they were also wanted for approximately 13 murders and numerous robberies by 1934.

In 1932, the duo added another person to their two-man criminal gang and met Raymond Hamilton, a young gunfighter at that time. However, things did not go well for the trio and Raymond left the duo a few months later. He was replaced by William Daniel Jones.

Of course, during this period, they continued to commit frequent crimes, stealing Ford vehicles and, so to speak, terrorizing the regions they were in. Naturally, the police were constantly on the couple’s neck. However, as if the crimes committed by the group were not enough, 2 more people joined them. These were Clyde’s brother and his wife.

This crime adventure, which they started as 2 people, continued as 5 people, although it was short-lived. Tired of petty robberies and thefts, the team set their sights on a bigger hunt. This group, which frequently made headlines and was the subject of news throughout the country, somehow managed to escape from law enforcement authorities every time.

Even though they were searched everywhere, they never stopped committing crimes, but with each step they came closer to the end.

On July 29, 1933, Clyde’s brother, Buck Barrow, was seriously injured in a gunfight with the police, and we can say that this was the first bullet fired into the criminal gang. After Buck was shot, his wife Banche was caught by the police. Moreover, after two people left the criminal gangs, William Daniel Jones was caught by the sheriff and his teams in Houston, Texas, in November 1933.

Thus, this crime adventure that they continued as a group of 5 people started again. However, their job was much more difficult this time because wherever they went, the police were constantly looking for the couple on the interstate, leaving no stone unturned. Sounds like GTA, right? Of course, they did not remain idle during this period when they were running away from the police.

On November 22, 1933, a Texas sheriff and his team set a trap to catch the couple, but in vain. Moreover, they even robbed a lawyer on the highway while running away from the police. This couple, with their eyes darkened, rescued Raymond, who had accomplices among them, from Eastham State Prison in Texas in 1934, in a way that became the subject of movies.

Clyde repelled the 5 prisoners who escaped with Raymond by shooting at the guards with his machine gun. Unfortunately, two guards lost their lives in this process. In fact, among the 5 escaped prisoners was Henry Methvin, one of America’s most notorious criminals.

We are now approaching the end: the FBI was determined to catch this notorious couple by following every clue.

“Wanted notices” containing fingerprints, photographs, descriptions, criminal records and other information were distributed to all officers. According to the information obtained by the FBI during this process, there was a connection between Henry Methvin and our notorious couple. The police, who caught this clue, obtained information that confirmed that Bonnie and Clyde were in an area in Louisiana.

Police learned that on May 21, 1934, the couple and the Methvin family hosted a party. Rolling up their sleeves, the team started the operation to capture the couple by hiding in the bushes on the highway on May 23, 1934. Our couple, who suddenly found themselves in the middle of a conflict, was killed instantly by the police.

Bonus trivia: The car in which the couple was killed is now on display at the Primm Valley Resort and Casino in Las Vegas Nevada.

The story of the notorious couple has been the subject of the movie industry before: Bonnie and Clyde

If you say “The movie is too old, it won’t interest me”, it would be useful to take a look at the mini series:

  • Genre: Biography, crime, drama
  • Year: 2013
  • Cast: Emile Hirsch, Holliday Grainger, Sarah Hyland
  • Creator: Bruce Beresford
  • IMDb: 6.4

However, despite all we have said, it is not yet certain that GTA 6 will be based on these characters, as we said, they may just be inspired by them.

Rockstar was frequently talked about with its references to real life in its previous games. In fact, while GTA 6 is currently on the agenda, many people are sharing real-life references from the released trailer of the game on social media. Showing the prison at the beginning of the trailer probably shows that our main character will somehow escape from here, which reminded us a lot of the couple’s story.

Frankly, we were both surprised and tired as we read about the horror the couple unleashed on America, both while writing and reading. It is not known how this couple will be handled or inspired in GTA 6, but it is certain that it will be filled with a lot of terror. We are looking forward to GTA 6, which will be released in 2025!
