The prolific AI bot ChatGPT continues to grow in popularity. According to investment bank UBS, it has amassed more than 100 million users since its release in November 2022.

The prolific AI bot has many different uses. It can answer questions, compose emails and articles, summarize user-entered text, and even write your resume. And many companies are turning to this tool to create their own content.

“We see high demand for this job category,” says Margaret Lilani, vice president of talent solutions at job market Upwork. In other words, companies want freelance workers who can use AI bots.

If you’re looking for a side job and have a knack for technology and language, it can be effective if you choose a job that will help employers use ChatGPT to create content such as LinkedIn posts, blog posts, podcast show notes, and even social media posts for Twitter and Instagram. Companies today have to work overtime to build their brands. “The bar has been raised for how much content you should post on your website and social media,” says Angelique Rewers, founder of BoldHaus, a consulting firm that helps small businesses find corporate clients. This means the need for more content.

Increase in the quest for AI Content Assistant

People who will work as “AI content assistants”, as Rewers uses, come into play at many different event points such as speeches, webinars, presentations and many other activities that company employees and managers constantly need. It is possible to record the audio files of these events, send them to a transcription service such as Rev or Otter.ai, and then enter the most relevant part of the text into ChatGPT, directing the bot to create the content needed.

“You can literally copy and paste a transcript and say, ‘Turn this into a 700-word blog article with five tips,'” Rewers says. The assistant’s job is to take the transcript and put it in ChatGPT, issue the prompt, and re-read the result when it’s finished “to make sure it’s not corrupted”.

Also, you don’t have to spend a lot of time learning this whole process. Rewers notes that it will only take a few weeks to learn how both transcription services and ChatGPT work: “Once you’ve got the prompts done, it’s easy to do.”

Making $100 an hour…

AI content assistants can also make good money. “You can charge anywhere from $20 to $100 an hour,” Rewers says. You can offer your services on sites like Upwork, Fiverr, and add this skill to your LinkedIn profile if any company is actively looking for such an assistant.

“I don’t think it will go away,” Rewers says, when it comes to this type of side business. “The biggest new addition will be using AI and helping business owners use AI.”
