Epic Games CEO Tim Sweeney talked about a fake Fortnite cryptocurrency account released as Fortnite Token and stated that it is a scam. Sweeney said this token has nothing to do with Epic’s battle royale game and its trademarks.
CEO reacted to frauds in the crypto money industry with his tweets. “Something like that is fraud,” Sweeney said. Epic’s lawyers are working on it. Shame on the cryptocurrency market that makes these things possible.”
However, Fortnite Token, which first appeared in late 2021, is a scam of this account. He claimed it wasn’t and was just a fan-focused effort.
“This is a fair-launch, community-driven, Fortnite gaming fan-created cryptocurrency project with no specific owner or company structure behind it or a CEO deciding its future.”
Sweeney soon responded to this comment, saying, “Trademarks and copyrights don’t work that way. “You may not use the Fortnite name and images without permission to market an unrelated product.”
