Platforms that provide communication services use end-to-end encryption to indicate that the conversations between two users are completely private and confidential, and that a third person cannot reach them. WhatsApp, the most used messaging application in the world, has been keeping the messages of its users safe since 2016 with this feature.
From time to time, claims were made about its reliability. Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg said, “We do not see any content on WhatsApp. ” he called out to his users. In addition, WhatsApp stated that it only made end-to-end encryption when sending a message to a person for the first time. The platform is preparing to introduce a new feature to convince its users that they are communicating with confidence.
WhatsApp adds indicators to remind end-to-end encryption
The WhatsApp application, which belongs to the Meta company, was talked about a lot, especially at the beginning of this year, when it updated its privacy policy. So much so that many people turned to other messaging applications for reliability concerns. The platform goes to great lengths to remind you that it is reliable. The new version is expected to have more reminders about end-to-end encryption.
WhatsApp, with its upcoming update, is getting ready to show a footer text in the Status, Calls and Chats sections saying that everything in the app is end-to-end encrypted. If not with this update, in the next update, WhatsApp plans to add the same notification to the Chats section.
So how does end-to-end encryption work?
With the end-to-end encryption feature, the data is encrypted on the sending device and returns to its original form on the receiving device using an encryption key. The process runs within the program during messaging. Thus, both the sender and the receiver see the data in its original form. End-to-end encryption is used to make it completely impossible for a third party other than the sender and receiver to access the data.
