Volkswagen, which announced that it had stopped the production of Passat and Beetle models in recent years, came to the fore with its new decision. The Volkswagen Up model, produced in the Bratislava factory in Slovakia, has been discontinued. Here are the details…

Volkswagen Up model has been discontinued

VW Up has been announced as the latest car to face production problems. It will now only be available from dealer stock in the UK.

Up, Volkswagen’s smallest model, follows in the footsteps of Volkswagen Golf, Passat and Beetle, which have been discontinued in recent years. VW Up, also known as the company’s cheapest model, has only 12 years of history.

Although it had a short run compared to other models already lost, it was produced in a variety of powertrains, from the powerful GTI model to the environmentally friendly e-UP. At the beginning of the year, Volkswagen removed the Up GTI version from sale, stating that demand exceeded supply but that they would produce all existing orders.

With this move, VW Polo regained its title as the company’s smallest car. It’s been a similar story in the auto industry as manufacturers shift their focus from internal combustion models to electric powertrains.

The removal of the Ford Fiesta from sales earlier this year reveals that another name has come to the end of the legend that has been on sale for decades. It is estimated that companies will focus on models that they can produce on a single platform.
