Samsung, which has decided not to produce smartphones with Tizen operating system after 2017, has completely closed its application store. Stating that both new users and existing users will not be able to access the Tizen application store, the company will continue on its way only with the Android operating system.
Making the Tizen app store available only to existing customers in June 2021, Samsung allowed the use of pre-downloaded apps. According to the statement made today, existing users will no longer be able to use the Tizen app store.
Samsung shuts down Tizen app store
The last device running Tizen OS, the Samsung Z4, was released in 2017. It was predicted that the company would abandon the Tizen project in the medium term.
Samsung used the WearOS operating system developed by Google in the Galaxy Watch 4 family, which was introduced in 2021. The company, which has given up on Tizen, the operating system it has developed since 2014, will continue on its way with Google in smart watches.
Compared to devices with Tizen operating system, one of the most important features of wearOS is that applications such as Spotify, Google Maps, Play Music come preloaded. In addition, supporting different applications is among the superior features of the Tizen operating system.
