Brazil-based aerospace company Embraer is in talks to continue developing its rear-engined turboprop regional aircraft. The company manager explained in his statement that a final decision has not been made, but that he had a positive meeting with India.
Aircraft could be ready for 2028
Embraer’s head of commercial aviation, Arjan Meijer, said that since 2017 the company has been holding intra-industry talks to fulfill its current desire to return to the turboprop industry. Potential partnership talks are underway in India and elsewhere on proposals for a new 70-90 passenger turboprop aircraft.

Company same It is also negotiating with engine manufacturers for aircraft. To reduce cabin noise, Embraer will position both engines at the rear of the aircraft.
Stating that they will make their final decisions in the middle of 2023, Meijer stated that if the decision is positive, the tuboprop aircraft could enter service until 2028.
