Tesla employees expect overtime
Elon Musk held a meeting with company employees last week. At the meeting, Tesla’s quarterly deliveries were discussed. Alerting his employees against this busy period, Elon Musk said that they need to work harder.
The electric car manufacturer is trying to escape from this intensity, especially at the end of the quarter. However, this situation is inevitable due to the special policy followed by the company. Tesla follows a different delivery policy than other automakers.
Tesla has a completely unique delivery system, while other companies turn to independent dealers to distribute their vehicles. Since Tesla sells directly to customers, it remains the sole responsibility of the company until the vehicle is delivered to the buyer.
This is why delivery times are so important to the electric car manufacturer. Because Tesla cannot receive any payment until the customer receives the car. This puts a significant financial burden on the company. In case of delay in deliveries, this burden increases even more.
Tesla therefore prioritized vehicles for export at its Fremont plant and Gigafactory Shanghai earlier in the year. Local deliveries, on the other hand, remained in the background at these facilities in the first place. In this way, Tesla aims to get rid of the delivery load that may occur at the end of the year.

This has been going on since the last quarter of 2008. Something seems to be causing the quarterfinals to be tough and this year will be no exception. This year, we experienced difficulties especially due to the COVID-19 restrictions in Shanghai. Earlier this quarter, the factory in Shanghai was closed. But now we can go into full production. This quarter is going to be pretty busy.
