With the end of the pandemic, Tesla is one of the companies struggling to bring their employees to the office. However, according to a new email that has emerged, Elon Musk has taken a hard line on calling employees to the office. Tesla CEO asked employees to either come to the office 40 hours a week or leave the company.
Elon Musk: Either come to the office or leave Tesla
Saying that he is a Tesla shareholder, Samuel Nissim aroused great interest with his internal e-mails he shared on Twitter. Allegedly, Tesla CEO Elon Musk stated that their managers had to come to the office at least 40 hours a week.
In these emails, which have not yet been verified by Samuel Nissim and Tesla, the Tesla CEO openly threatens the employees. According to Musk, people who don’t work in the office 40 hours or more a week “must accept that they’re resigning.”
The following expressions were used in the e-mail allegedly sent by Elon Musk: “Anyone who wants to switch to remote work must be in the office or leave Tesla at least 40 hours a week. This is less than what we want from factory workers.”
Elon Musk made a statement about the emails leaked to Twitter. Not talking about the accuracy of the emails, the Tesla CEO revealed how he would respond to those who view face-to-face work as an old model.
In a statement he shared on Twitter, Musk said, “(People who find working in the office obsolete) should pretend to work elsewhere.”
The Tesla CEO hasn’t completely closed the door to remote work, however. He noted that exceptions can be made for “special contributors” to the company, but this must be approved by management.
“The more senior you are, the more visible your presence should be. That’s why I’ve lived in the factory so much that those on the line can see that I work for them. If I hadn’t done that, Tesla would have gone bankrupt already.”
