Elon Musk closely follows developments in artificial intelligence technologies and continues to work on new ideas in this field. Musk was one of the founders of the OpenAI artificial intelligence research company, the architect of ChatGPT, and later founded a brain-computer interface company called Neuralink, aiming to provide interaction between the human brain and artificial intelligence. And now it looks like ChatGPT has rolled up its sleeves to create a competitor.
Elon Musk has been contacting artificial intelligence researchers in recent weeks to develop a new alternative to ChatGPT, the chatbot developed by OpenAI, The Information reports. The billionaire tech entrepreneur has made it clear in The Information’s report that he had previously approached Igor Babuschkin, an AI researcher working on Alphabet’s DeepMind AI, to set up a research lab.
Musk founded OpenAI in 2015 with Sam Altman, president of Y Combinator, to follow AI development and chaired it until 2018, when he resigned over conflict of interest concerns. It currently does not have any network with OpenAI.
Musk and Babuschkin have discussed forming a team to continue AI research, but the project is still in the early stages and there are no financial plans to develop specific products, The Information reports.
