Elon Musk said that he will wage war against spam and bot accounts on the platform during the period of purchasing Twitter. While he hasn’t explained how to do this, we do know that many social media platforms have authentication requirements. Authentication, which is currently limited on Twitter, may be expanding with Musk’s decision.
Twitter will authenticate Blue subscriptions
Twitter (or X as it’s new) started asking users for their credentials. According to screenshots shared by a user, X has implemented a new verification process that requires Blue (or X Premium) users to submit their ID and selfie photos.
This decision of the platform began to be taken after each user was given a blue tick with the Blue subscription. Accounts impersonating real people caused chaos on the platform a while ago. The identity verification process will prevent a new chaos.
According to the shared information, the service for uploading credentials will be carried out by Israel-based Au10tix. The platform, which will process the information of Twitter users, will store ID and selfie shots for 30 days.
Users are also asked to submit a selfie taken from the X app, in addition to their official ID, such as a driver’s license or passport. The authentication process should take 5 minutes to complete. If this time is exceeded, it will be mandatory to upload the photos again.
Earlier, Elon Musk updated his profile to “ID Verified”. In addition, his account “BC. He hinted at the upcoming changes, joking that “it has been verified since 3000 BC”. With this move, Musk wants to avoid the confusion caused by the blue tick.
