After Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the crisis between countries moved into space. The head of the Russian Space Agency, Dmitry Rogozin, suggested that they would not sell rocket engines to the United States, and that they would fly with “Harry Potter’s broomstick”. However, the answer to this statement came from Elon Musk with SpaceX’s latest rocket launch.
Musk’s space company SpaceX launched 47 new Starlink satellites hours after Rogozin said they would not deliver their rocket engines to the United States due to sanctions against Russia and that the United States could use broomsticks to fly.
What did Elon Musk say about Russia’s space chief?
Roscosmos President Rogozin, speaking to Russian state television about the rocket engines whose sale to the USA has been stopped, stated that they will not give the “best rocket engines in the world” to the USA. He also joked that the US could fly with a broomstick.
Musk, who is disturbed by the statement of the Russian space chief, is about SpaceX’s last launch. He responded to the tweet with “American Broom” by adding four US flag emojis.
This isn’t the first time Musk has faced Rogozin, however. Earlier, Rogozin had protested Musk’s aid to Ukraine by providing internet services through Starlink.
Rogozin said that Russia is protecting its own national interests and Starlink and Elon Musk appeared out of nowhere. In response, Musk said, “Ukraine was experiencing strange interruptions in its internet connection, perhaps due to bad weather. “SpaceX is helping to fix that.”
The Russian space agency has begun to cut ties with other major space agencies. Roscosmos has recently announced that it has terminated its cooperation with Germany for joint experiments planned to be carried out in the Russian compartment of the International Space Station.
Apart from Germany, Russia announced that it has suspended its projects with NASA and the European Space Agency (ESA) in retaliation for sanctions imposed by both the US and European countries.
