The other day, Elon Musk shared the Twitter suggestion algorithm as open source, which caused a question mark in people’s minds after a long wait. The reason for sharing the algorithm in question was that in the first place, users were offered unrelated posts, even if they were not popular.
On top of that, the company needed a tangible basis for such complaints as “that’s why”, and it wouldn’t make much sense unless the other party saw this algorithm. However, while we are focused on this issue, we do not encounter small surprises in the algorithm.
Below you can see some of the categories included in the codes in the algorithm.
As you can see here, there are democrats at the top and republicans at the bottom, while Elon stands out at the bottom. It is quite strange that Elon Musk put his own tweets in a separate category in this grouping, which is basically for collecting data and taking action according to the data.
The fact that this was later deleted from the algorithm also makes the issue even more strange.
Whether or not Musk’s own account contains tweets that are important enough to show as a category is a separate topic of discussion. Also, although it is known that this definitely plays a role in interaction, what exactly it does is not clearly stated. Basically, the category purpose is used to collect data as shown in the previous image.
Musk’s statement on this subject: “Is that so, or why?” flavored
After this question was reflected to a Twitter officer and himself in the Spaces room, Musk asked himself, “Isn’t it strange that one of the 4 categories is Elon?” He conveys the question to the Twitter official without breaking the momentum. Meanwhile, it’s strange that Elon said, “This is the first time I’ve heard of it, by the way.”
We will see together what other surprises the algorithm will bring to us.
