Twitter has suffered from bots for a very long time. This was one of the first elements of war on the platform, which came under the management of Elon Musk. Elon Musk kept saying he would finish the boots, and he did.

Twitter developers under Musk, who have done a lot of work for bots to leave Twitter, again announced the new Twitter replies algorithm to be a precaution against bots.

In this context, Twitter’s new reply algorithm will work as follows:

Elon Musk provided information on how the response algorithm on Twitter will work in the post he shared at midnight last night. Musk says:

“In the coming weeks, Twitter will prioritize replies in the following order:

  • Accounts you follow
  • Confirmed accounts
  • Unconfirmed accounts

Verified accounts will be 1000x harder to defeat by bots or trolls. They say, ‘You reap what you sow’.

Musk is referring to ‘confirmed’ accounts here, but with Twitter Blue, the moneymaker already gets the approval. So it’s highly unlikely that a ‘verified’ account will actually be the person the account reflects, ie interacting with troll or bot accounts.

But since Twitter Blue isn’t cheap and getting ticks on every bot account would be salty, it would obviously reduce engagement. Well, let’s just wait and see how Twitter’s new reply algorithm works.
