Elon Musk, who gave up on buying Twitter, now accuses the platform of being a fraud. Saying that the company hides the number of spam and bot users, Tesla CEO claimed that he calculated the real numbers to be much higher.
Elon Musk: Twitter is a scammer hiding fake account count
Twitter said in its latest financial reports that bots or fake accounts make up less than 5 percent of its user base. Saying that he withdrew from the $ 44 billion Twitter deal last month, Elon Musk thinks that the number of unreal accounts on the platform is more than 10 percent.
Twitter stated that Musk did not comply with the terms of the agreement by withdrawing from the purchase and sued the Tesla CEO. Very harsh statements came to Twitter from Elon Musk’s lawyers, who thought that the agreement was unfairly violated. According to Musk’s lawyers, Twitter “inflated the price of the deal” by overestimating the number of users.
Elon Musk has long thought that the unreal number of users on Twitter is wrong. According to the lawsuit, Musk used an algorithm called Botometer and measured the platform’s fake/bot accounts.
He used the following statements with Musk’s lawyers on the subject:
“Twitter was incorrectly counting the number of false and spam accounts on its platform as part of its plan to mislead investors about the company’s future. Twitter’s disclosures have been slowly unraveling, and Twitter is frantically closing its doors to prevent Musk from exposing his fraud.”
Twitter, on the other hand, stated that all these allegations were baseless and aimed at wearing down the company. Musk’s lawyers found the statements “factually false, legally inadequate, and commercially irrelevant.” Twitter – The Elon Musk case will go to court in October.
