Data shared by Jose Pontes shows us that the transition to electric vehicles is accelerating every day. According to the published data, 541,780 new electric vehicles were sold in February of 2022. This figure is about 99 percent higher than at the same time last year.
All-electric cars made up 6.4 percent of total sales, while plug-in hybrid vehicles accounted for 2.9 percent. In this way, electric vehicles managed to make up 9.3 percent of total sales. There has also been an increase in the number of non-rechargeable hybrid cars.
Non-rechargeable hybrid cars sold approximately 587,000 in February. Last year, 6.5 million cars were sold in 12 months. This year, more than 1.14 million sales were made in just 2 months. This shows us that electric cars are becoming more and more common every day.
Tesla Model Y and Model 3 became the best-selling vehicles in electric vehicle sales. With 45,236 and 30,268 sales, the first two cars were followed by the vehicles of Chinese manufacturers. Volkswagen’s famous electric model ID.4 was able to find its place in the 10th place with 18,541 sales.
