Activision Blizzard, one of the biggest companies in the game industry, has been experiencing some unrest lately. Employees of the company, which has recently come to the fore with the harassment scandal, started to protest. The protest is being carried out by the company’s approximately 700 employees. The protest’s goal is to get rid of the company’s CEO, Bobby Kotick.
Activision Blizzard employees begin protest against CEO
Bobby Kotick, the founder and sole CEO of Activision Blizzard, has witnessed many scandals in the company to date. Previously, the company had experienced crises due to incidents such as sexual harassment and bullying. After all these crises, most of the company’s investors announced that they supported the current CEO Bobby Kotick.
Although there is a minority of investors who want Kotick to be fired, the general investor support Kotick. This message of support after the crisis in the company must have angered the employees because a large section of the company started protesting. According to 2020 data, nearly 700 employees of the company, which has nearly 10,000 employees, started protesting.
The following text, co-written by the protesters, explains what the workers want and the purpose of the protest:
“We, the undersigned, no longer trust the leadership of Bobby Kotick as CEO of Activision Blizzard. The information that has come to light about the conduct and practices of our companies’ management goes against the culture and integrity we need for our leadership, and directly contradicts initiatives launched by our peers. We call for Bobby Kotick to be removed as CEO of Activision Blizzard and for shareholders to be allowed to elect the new CEO without the involvement of Bobby, who we know holds a significant share of the voting rights. ”
Letter from Activision Blizzard employees
As stated in this text, the signatures of the employees participating in the protest are clearly visible on this page. The position of the employees is also written under their names. When we examine the employees, we see that there are many employees from rookie to expert. We also see that the names in management positions do not want Bobby Kotick.
We look forward to seeing what kind of answers such a big protest will get in the coming days. Because this event does not look like an action that can be forgotten in the history of the company. Should Blizzard’s troubled name Bobby Kotick be sacked?
