Telegram founder Pavel Durov announced that the messaging platform gained 70 million new users during the WhatsApp, Facebook and Instagram outage that lasted for several hours. Even before Durov made the announcement via his Telegram channel, users trying to send messages may have noticed the increase in users, with the service slowing down noticeably.
Commenting on the user growth, Durov wrote: “Telegram’s daily growth rate has exceeded the norm and we have welcomed more than 70 million users from other platforms in one day. We are proud of our team’s success during its unprecedented growth as Telegram continues to work flawlessly for the vast majority of our users. I hear.”
While the platform continues to operate under more heavy traffic than usual, Durov stated that users in the United States are the group most affected by this slowdown. Of course, countries other than the United States were also affected by this slowdown to varying degrees.
