DuckDuckGo releases beta version of its privacy-focused browser for macOS

Privacy-focused search engine DuckDuckGo, with a new announcement, announced the release of the beta version of its desktop browser for macOS. The company, which has only offered a browser experience on mobile until now, has shared that this experience will be offered for Windows in the near future.

DuckDuckGo browser experience for Macs

First stating that they want to create a macOS web browser in December 2021, DuckDuckGo has now released its privacy-focused browsers for Mac users. By default, the browser will use DuckDuckGo’s search engine and will offer a Fire Button to clear all tabs and data in one tap.

The browser, which will offer cookie consent pop-up protection on approximately 50% of sites, will enable users to go to the encrypted (HTTPS) version of a website more often with its built-in Smart Encryption. It will also show you which sites are trying to track users in its Privacy feed.

Those who want to access the DuckDuckGo beta for Mac first need to download the mobile browser, and those who have the browser need to upgrade to the updated version. Then, click on ‘Join Private Waitlist’ in Settings > DuckDuckGo for Desktop. Users who receive an invitation code from here will have a link to the download page that will be opened on their desktop / laptop computer through the notification from the application.
