To date, we have seen various games played in text-based applications such as Microsoft Excel. However, a Twitter user managed to take the concept of running games in text-based applications to a different dimension.
Twitter user ‘Samperson’ managed to play the first FPS game DOOM in Windows’ ‘Notepad’ application. DOOM was reflected in Notepad with letters and characters changing every second. Moreover, the game could be run at 60 frames per second.
Run DOOM in Notepad:
Samperson has already responded to some arguments in his post. The programmer, who managed to run DOOM in Notepad, stated that the image was not accelerated or changed the codes of the Notepad application.
Samperson, on the other hand, has not yet released the Notepad version of DOOM. The developer announced that he needed to make some fixes to make the game ‘releaseable’, after which he would release the game in a few days. The developer has not yet shared how he managed to play this game.
