The dating application Tinder, which was launched in 2012, has signed an admirable feature that is completely opposite to its original purpose today. The platform has created a separate feature that will make it easier for users to adopt stray dogs for the National Dog Week celebrated in the USA.
Users will have the opportunity to adopt dogs from 5 different animal shelters with the new feature added to the application. So how does this feature work?
Thanks to Tinder, new homes can be found for homeless dogs
People who want to use the new feature will be able to access the “Rescue Matches” page created by Tinder and select a dog in their area to adopt and add it to their profile. Here’s how to use the feature step-by-step:
- Users choose the dog to be adopted over Rescue Matches,
- Uploading a photo of themselves
- Tinder combines these two photos and creates a photo of the user with the dog to be adopted,
- The user downloads this photo and adds it to his Tinder profile.
The resulting image looks like this:
While the feature was met with positive comments by many animal lovers, it also became a tool for some ‘opportunists’. Because, according to data shared by Tinder, 70% of lone users believed that having a dog in their profile photo increased matches. So this tool began to be used as a tool for new pairings, in a sort of ‘I’m an animal lover’ manner.
While Tinder’s new feature is currently only available in the US and until September 24, we can expect it to be rolled out in other countries in the future. On the other hand, Tinder or a different company/developer may set off with this idea and come up with a completely different application.
