According to Google’s Chromium Blog post, passkey support that will bring the end of the password started to be available with the M108 update.

What is a Passkey?

Passkeys are just another way for users to keep their accounts secure, like two-factor authentication and Google’s password manager. Unlike other security factors, there is no risk of leakage of passkeys, login information is safe in case of a data breach on the server. Passkey, which can also protect users against phishing attacks, is a more secure alternative to passwords.

Users can authenticate using their iPhone or Android phone with their passkey and log into websites without a password. In new versions of iOS and Android, users who enter sites that support passkeys can pass the authentication step using biometric authentication on a trusted device. It is said that Passkey support will also come to the Chrome Android app.

When the user enters a site from the computer, they can use the pass key by scanning the QR code with the mobile device nearby. Since there is only a securely generated code exchange with the site, there is no risk of leaking, unlike the password.
