Discord, one of the most frequently used and popular voice chat applications by players, has made a partnership with Sony and it was announced that Discord will be integrated into PlayStation Network in 2022. Discord, which made PlayStation users very happy as a result of its agreement, now seems to aim to further expand its place in the game world by making a deal with another game console giant.
Discord said in a statement that it made an agreement with Microsoft and as a result of this agreement, the Discord voice conversation feature will come to Xboxes. This feature will allow users to chat with anyone on Discord via voice channels or make group calls directly from the console.
The feature that the players wanted so much came to Xbox
This agreement between Microsoft and Discord was one of the most requested features by the players. With the Discord audio feature to be added to Xbox consoles, players will now have the opportunity to talk to their friends or other people in the community while playing their favorite games. At the same time, it will be possible to see who is on the call and talking while playing games on the console. In addition, users will be able to easily switch between Discord Voice and Xbox game chats.
Explaining about the feature offered to Xbox Series X / S and Xbox One, Discord said that they are making this feature available to bring people together around games, regardless of which platform is used. This feature, which is currently available to Xbox Insider users, is expected to be available to other users in the near future.
Here’s what to do to link Xbox and Discord accounts:
The process of linking your Xbox and Discord accounts and starting voice chat seems a bit complicated. First, you need to download the Xbox mobile app on your phone to transfer calls from Discord to Xbox. Next, you need to link your Xbox account to your Discord account. Even if you have done these before, you need to do them again to be able to accept and use the new audio permissions. Here’s what you need to do to use Discord Voice on Xbox:
- First, link your Xbox account to your Discord account.
- Then on your phone, click ‘Join Xbox’ in Discord so it can automatically open the Xbox app.
- Activate the ‘Transfer Audio’ option in the Xbox app and log back into Discord. Click on ‘Transfer audio to this device’ on Discord.
Once you’ve done that, whenever you want to talk to your friends on Discord on Xbox, you can start a search in Discord and press the ‘Transfer to Xbox’ button to make voice calls to your chosen Xbox console from the Xbox mobile app. You can also start a conversation by scanning a QR code from the Xbox mobile app to start a conversation from Discord on desktop or web.
Microsoft and Discord have not yet made a statement about when this feature, which it offered to Xbox Insiders today, will come to all Xbox owners.
